I know many say to rebuild the hinges you have because the aftermarket are not very good. But my hinges were in VERY bad shape and possibly bent.SO I am kind of forced to use aftermarket hinges.

Question: Is there a certain part, area or item I should be concerned about? Is there a way to rebuild the aftermarket hinge to make it as good as a GM? What should I get... parts? :help!:

I would rather rebuild the hinges now, than later when the car is put together and I have to deal with paint and fitment.

Here is what I have:

*Lower Hinges is suppose to be a "GM Restoration Part" and does look like it is a rebuild factory hinge. Are these OK? area of concern?

*Upper Hinges are reproduction: I do see they use some sort of plastic bushing rather than a brass bushing like the factory hinge. Should I replace these right away with brass? or is plastic just as good?

Aftermarkets are junk. Send your originals to Willie at www.hoodhingerepair.com and be done with it. He'll make them like new again.
