Hello,

Here is my new car. It has finally landed in Australia.

After having sat in this thing, and seeing it... I have no desire for anything else. My search for the 'right' car is finally over and the dream has been realized.

RideTech suspension is definitely on the shopping list for this beast.

Thank you all for putting up with my 'trying to find the right car' saga.

Did not have a problem. The Agent from the US sorted out the import approval in his own name etc. I had no issues at all to deal with. Seems he did not have any issues either as mine was import approval #27.

That is the wife. She definitely comes with it. Bad photo of her though.

I would like to do the RHD conversion first, but I could spend that money on ditching the 4 wheel drums... some how 400HP and 4 wheel drums does not seem to sound right to me. But If i spend on brakes, I wanna get something good for these 16" wheels. Thing is when I upgrade to 17" wheels, then I could have got a bigger brake and not have spent on the 16s, and so... dunno?

Maybe going RHD first will make sense as that wont effect the brakes etc and once I decide on wheels and whatever else then I can worry about that stuff.

that is a great looking car, and agreed on the drum conversion. Nothing like drums to remind you that power isn't worth much if you can't stop quickly

Why are you converting to RHD?
Just wondering.......I don't know anywhere you can't register that LHD. While restoring my 71, I fixed a half assed partial RHD conversion attempt by going back to LHD.

I would like to convert because I look at that whole RHD/LHD from a big picture rather than personal preference.

On one side of the argument "Car was made LHD so it should stay LHD"... which I can understand if I ignore the rest of the argument.

To me it is like this. "The reason the car was made LHD is because in America they drive on the right hand side of the road, thus, the car being LHD by the factory puts the driver closest to the centre of the road, easier for overtaking, and simply more vision available on the road, had the Mustang been made in Australia, the factory would have made them RHD"

So to me RHD is because we drive on left hand side and it should have been made RHD had it been produced here. So I am just wanting to put it on the correct side for the country I am in.

I will have it registered as LHD, but if there is anything I want to work towards is converting it to the correct side. Future, not right now.

I would think that having the steering wheel on the correct side for your roads would make the driving experience a great deal more enjoyable.
There are a few right hand drive vehicles in and around my community but they are almost all used just for rural route mail delivery (the mail boxes are on the right side of the road).

Totally understand, some people simply prefer RHD.
Luckily, Mustangs are one of the easiest RHD conversions to do well. Talk to RRS in Sydney, they have some great Ford RHD products.

Having spent time in Melbourne, I'm amazed at the amount of LHD American muscle that shows up at the beach on a nice day. Within driving a few days I realized why; It seems quite easy to get used to LH vs RH drive vehicles. For some reason I anticipated much more difficulty.
