Wait! There is even more cool news!

It's not too late to show your support and help a great charity at the same time.

Pro-Touring.com is proud to announce they will be sponsoring site members James Shipka & Mary Pozzi, Jimi Day & Saroja Raman and Carl Casanova & Jon Mahn as they take on the 2013 One Lap of America this May!

Would you like to be a part as well? Follow the link below to see how you can join Pro-Touring.com in supporting the Vintage American Team members and the Honor Flight Charity as the same time.

To help out Pro-Touring.com's Vintage American entries - The OneLapCamaro, The Centerforce AMXess, and the Honor Flight Camaro - Pro-Touring.com will be picking up the tab for about half of the Team's fuel costs during this year's Tire Rack One Lap of America.

Pro-Touring.com is encouraging you to join us and show your support for our very own Vintage American entries in this 30th running of the One Lap of America.

Follow the link below and help fuel the team to the finish! 90 cents of every dollar will go to offset the team's fuel costs.

In addition to helping our members in the race you will be supporting a great cause as well! 10 cents of every dollar, and all monies collected beyond the cost of fuel will be donated to the Honor Flight Network (http://www.honorflight.org/) charity that Carl Casanova is supporting this year.

For those of you that are not familiar with the One Lap of America it is 7 days long, they will drive nearly 3,500 miles and they will compete in almost 20 events around the country beginning May 3rd 2013. It is a test of not only the cars but the drivers and the drivers ability to do well day after day with little sleep.

The team will do their best to post daily updates and you can follow along by clicking on one of the links below

I have to apologize for not jumping in sooner but it was a long week and despite the marvels of technology there is only so much time in the day. Mary was a very strict taskmaster during our journey and we did our best to keep the updates coming via FB and the OLC Blog.

This was a great week for all three (six) of us. The Vintage American class was really tough this year - six cars started, five cars finished, and four cars made it to all of the events. Jimi and Saroja did a great job wheeling the Centerforce AMX despite dealing with a variety of issues over the week. Carl and Jon in the Honor Flight Camaro likewise rocked the event and ran a great race. I think that it says tons that Jimi and Carl were actually TIED for second in points with their final placement being determined by overall cumulative times.

I think that it also says a lot that between the three Pro-Touring cars (and actually all five competition drivers) we each had at least one personal first place finish during the week. It was great to be able to caravan during the transit stages and the One Lap organizers actually went out of their way to create a Muscle Car run group that included ourselves, the rest of the VA cars and a factory 5 Daytona coupe. I think everybody got a kick out of seeing the "old cars" holding their own with some incredible supercars.

For Mary and I this was a great event. We had no major mechanical issues (that kept us from competing) although the OLC will be down for the foreseeable future with a hurt engine and tired transmission. Going in to this year I was concerned about the mill and Daytona took its toll on us and the LS7 is done. We finished 21st overall - bracketed by a prepped Z06, a Panamera, a gutted 5th gen and an ACR Viper. This was our best finish ever and I'm really proud of Mary and the David's prep work on the old girl.

I was also really touched by the support thoughout the event. We had people come out to every event - often wearing our 2013 t-shirts - to show their support. On two occasions forum members chased us down at gas stops to talk and encourage us on. I never would have imagined such support and can't thank everybody enough.

I would be remiss, also, not to thank our sponsors - RideTech, HRE, Baer Brakes, Centerforce Clutches and of course Pro-Touring.com! I'm also thrilled that last time I had looked we had raised almost $16,000 for our charity - the EvenStart Foundation for Children. I'm glad that our love of Motorsports and competition can benefit such a worthy cause.

That said - thank you all and good night. We'll work on getting some pictures up later in the week once we've all made it home and gotten some much needed sleep.

Cheers

James

And yes :1st:
Thank you

Pretty sure the LS7 is okay as there was plenty of oil pressure, no episodes of overheating, and no overrevving. The plugs probably were fouled a bit and the O2 sensors affected by the oil residue up in e heads that made it past the guides when we were at Daytona. If plugs are fouled even a little, that O2 reads more oxygen in the exhaust, not less, due to incomplete combustion. The EFI is a feedback system and without that ability, it can't regulate or adjust fuel management.

I'm betting with fresh plugs and new O2 sensors, that engine will be good to go for many more One Laps or anything else we throw at it.
