Well in technical terms we dont have enough power yet. Gasoline just wont do it yet. Or its a conspiracy between Forgelie/Rushforth/Weld/Cragar/ ARE/Et cetera

Ok it actually figures like this. To actually defy gravity, the power expenditure to hover and move without aerodynamics becomes an exponential power increase, if the numbers hold its figure is somewhere in the 7.57 x 10 to the 23 (or a whole bunch more NOS for your warp reactor).
