Damn! That much adrenalin would probably kill me.
I've always thought that bike racers were an extra special kind of crazy.

And I thought rally racing was insane at times. These guys make Ken Block look like a pansy. (No offense Ken, but you have a steel cage around you and don't go that fast.)

One of the oldest continuously running time trials (riders set off at 1 minute intervals) is The Mountain Course on the Isle of Mann. Until sometime in the 70's, it was on the FIM calender as a points event. The route is over 35 miles long with over 200 turns (a turn every 900 feet or so.) Runs 6 laps. Motorbikes generally stop at the end of laps 2 and 4 to refuel. Average speeds in the bigger bore classes exceed 125 mph, between hedges, drystone walls, humpback bridges where you catch air.

Outside of the risk of a single tier of hay bales between you and a stone wall at at 125mph think of trying to remember over 200 brake, turn in, and apex points coming at you on average of every 5 seconds or so. I can barely remember where I parked the car this morning.

These guys are certifiably nuts. Driving like that is insane, but racing in the rain on public roads like that is beyond insane.

This is racing at its best.

I have watched this before, but I clicked the link again. My 18 month old son climbed up in my lap and watched without blinking for the duration of the video. Finally something that gets his attention that I can get into. He likes the Gymkhana videos too.

That's just classic motorcycle racing in the U.K.--completely mental! And people make a big deal about NASCAR not racing in the rain...

My Son use to do that when I would get home from work at night and I watched British touring car or Formula 1 racing. :-)

Motorcycle rain race tire technology is pretty unbelievable. I didn't buy into it until I experienced it myself. You can literally brake and accelerate like in the dry but only while upright. Check out one of my rain races below.

As for racing next to brick walls and telephone poles, no thanks.
