I have a 69 Camaro that I am building a new front and rear subframe for.
I'm running C6 suspension in the rear and am going to use the Dutchman center section.
I need to buy a new 3rd member since the current 9" in my car is a 28 spline and the Dutchman setup uses a 31 spline minimum.

What is the best setup for a street car that will do plenty of track days?
Tru Trac, Trac Loc, detroit locker?
Is there some other setup that will work even better?

Thanks

Keith

Tru Trac/Torsen.

I like my detroit locker. But I have a solid axle car.

Use a Locker if you are pushing big power. (700+ hp). They are bullet-proof and predictable. Otherwise check out the Wave-Trac and True-Trac.

Thanks for the info.
So the Trac Loc wouldn't be up to the task? I want to buy a complete 3rd member, the one I'm looking at from Dutchman comes with a Trac Loc posi.
I'm also trying to decide if I should go with a nodular iron or aluminum case.

I've run both aluminum and iron. The aluminum was noisier and had more play. Both provided full function.

I think I'll stick to the nodular iron, it's not a huge amount of weight, it's between the axle center lines and it's on the light end of the car.

I'm assuming this is the one you're referring to.

The car currently has the Trac Loc clutch style posi and it seemed to work fine on the track.
If I'm going to start over though I want to pick the best parts for my application.

If you want the best parts, have a look at the Wave Trac and 35 spline axles. It will handle big horsepower. Tru-trac is limited to a 31 spline axle, but if you are gentle with it, (no drag-racing) it will be fine.

I don't plan on drag racing the car at all, just road course.
Dutchman does list a 35 spline True Trac. Maybe this is a different setup than you're referring to.

On a different topic John.
Do you still have the Nova?
When I was first a member here back in 99 or so you were still working on it.
I remember when I was building headers for my last car you offered to lend me your tube clamps.

I sold the car in 2009. The following video kinda covers it's life. I'm the dude showing them how to close the hood.

And many thanks to Scott ( BonzoHansen) for capturing the video.

Wow, spectacular.
That's a real nice chunk of change.
I know how these cars add up though so I'm sure you had lots of money into it.

Had someone offer me a brand new Winters Quick change for a decent price today.
What do you guys think of the quick change.
I know they handle lots of power but I have heard people say to stay away from them also.

My engine machine shop guy ran a quick change in his street/strip(deep in the 9s) BBC 68 Camaro and never had an issue. LOTS of street miles and street races.
