Like it says....Done with the PM for pricing.......just tell us the price of your part its not top secret, its a part, its a price, just post it and if its a good price you should want to let everyone know!!! and if its for a limited time then say so, Hey we all understand getting a short term deal and then passing it on for sales, just say the price

YA----If you are looking for the "highest bid" then just use eGay and pay the fees. Otherwise put up a fair price and sell it for free.

Rod, I think I know what you mean. I'm pretty sure you know about MAP pricing, that's how they get around it.

Doesn't bother me at all. If I can get a better price through a PM that's fine. I have a limited budget and I try to stretch it as best I can. And I am particularly aware of the sensitive issue of taking advice and not following through with a purchase - I don't call or email for advice and then take my business elsewhere. I also don't have a local speed shop to support. The area where I live is a speed shop wasteland, haven't seen a single one.

At the request of a well established vendor, I PM'd for a price. Despite all the hype, it wasn't the best price and was not the best practice in my estimation.I too get tired of the gamemanship of some 'sellers'.

Equally done with PM's offering 50% less then the Ad says... WTF.. prices are already discounts..

Okay, I'll ask - what is MAP pricing??

Minimum Advertised Pricing.

Some of the manufacturers decided to level the playing field for smaller retailers so they/we could compete against giant warehouses. In theory it was good but wasn't technically legal to force a retailer to sell at a set price. So in practice MAP is still in place and most manufacturers STRONGLY suggest that you advertise at a price that is no lower than the set MAP pricing. They can't control what a retailer sells it for, so you have the PM or CALL for pricing. I see it in the Jegs catalog all the time, "prices too low to print", it literally means prices too low to print.

There is much more to it than that, but in a nutshell that covers it.
