I have a vintage wheel works v40 in 18's and would like to know if this is normal for bolt on valve stems to have a gap on the washer. Not sure if I need to trim on side so that it sits flush.

Anyone else see this before?

There should be a rubber gasket between the rim and the washer on BOTH sides.

I did not see my tire shop mount up mine, but they said the same thing. They used a standard rubber valve instead.

The stems do come with two rubber pieces but they are intended for two different valve stem hole sizes. Or at least that's what I think.

Besides the concern w/ the stem, can we see a pic of the entire wheel? what size/backspace, etc, did you get? Looks like you maximized the backspace judging by where the center is sitting on the barrel, from the little close up pic, the wheel looks nice!

I had a similar issue with my centerline wheels. I modified them to fit. I also have rubber on both sides.

This is the best I have right now for a pic. The wheels are 18x9.5 front with 5.75bs and the rears are 18x11 with 7.75bs. I will be running a stock width rear. Trying to change it up a little from the deep lip look. I really like that look and that's why I did it on my Camaro but with these going on my budget build it made sense to save money

I will prob just run rubber stems to make it easy
