I've never dealt with a clutch before so I don't really know what I'm looking at/for. Supposedly this is a 'new z06 clutch' but I'm not so sure.

The clutch disc itself looks new but not so sure about the TO bearing, pressure plate, or flywheel. Can post higher resolution pics if needed.

Derek,
I can't comment on the TOB, but the pressure plate and flywheel both look a little "smoky". Given the effort to replace those parts in the car, I'd replace 'em. If you're strapped for cash, at least lightly sand the parts with 220 grit or finer (dual action sander preferred) and get the heat marks off.

I agree with JP. There almost looks like some clutch chatter happened or some slipping to cause excessive heat marks like that. I have replaced a lot of clutches but none of them looked like that. Besides most factorcy clutches are not known for quality anyway. See all the purple on the clutch. Thats excessive heat distortion from what I can tell. The TOB is also purple in spots. Clean up flywheel and get a new clutch otherwise you might end up taking it all apart again in the next year or 2. Great detailed pics BTW. VEry helpful. :icon_razz
EDIT: Oh yeah make sure to check all the teeth on the flywheel.

Thanks, y'all. Money is tight but not so tight I can justify not fixing it.

I appreciate it.

The Clutch is new... Yes,
The pressure plate.... Uh.... I don't think so. But it looks OK (I would sand the plate slightly as mentioned)
The TO bearing.... What is the cost of the replacement? Other that the clutch plate, this is the second most likely piece to wear out. I would look at putting a new one in if budget allows (around $20-$30?)

have that flywheel turned don't know what it cost there but at the machine shop I work at It would be $25.
