I have a 79 Trans Am im currently rebuilding, and have go to the point of suspension and brakes. I just picked up a set of 13" Wilwood 6P and 4P rears. Im looking for suggestions on coilovers and a-arms, and a 4 link rear. would love to see some installed pics to see diff ride heights and stances, and and would like to know ride quality, noise of suspension. Car will be mostly driven on street, rarely on the track. I'm learing towards ridetech, mostly for their exceptional customer serive, as I have reached out to many manufacturers with questions and suprisingly Ridetech is the only company who has responded to any of my questions in the past few weeks.

I went with Ridetech out back and coilovers all around with an c6 based subframe. Ridetech supports the board here and seems to be at most of the big events. The choices for second gens are great these days. I don't think you can go wrong with speedtech, bmr, dse, ridetech, etc. It will come down to budget, packaging, installation ease and those sorts of things.

I think thats the route I will be going. Anyone have any before and after or just after photos of this suspension setup on their vehicles, so I can get an idea on ride height and stance?

We have multiple cars on the street as well as on the track, but either way, keeping the noise of the suspension at a minimal is one of our main goals. I'll look and see if I can find some pictures in our system of some 2nd gen. cars for you, if you have any questions, feel free to give me a call 812-481-4734.

I found a couple 2nd gen's, not all Firebirds, but it's the same principle :)

I've been talking to alot of guys in past few weeks about our Torque Arm kits. We offer bolt on Torque Arm kits for 67-81 F-Bodies with 10 bolt & 12 bolt rears as well as a Ford 9" option.

Here is a install article that Super Chevy did a few years back:

http://www.superchevy.com/technical/chassis/suspension_steering/sucp_1111_bmr_rear_suspension_install_strong_arm/

Here is a VERY informative tech article written by ourR&D manager explaining what it does:

http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/tech/chassis/suspension_steering/1206chp_torque_arm_suspension_systems/ (http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/tech/chassis/suspension_steering/1206chp_torque_arm_suspension_systems/)

We also offer a Torque Arm kit for guys who want a Ford 9" that includes a bare Strangehousing for $600 more. Take a look at the link below detailing an install that a member completed with our Ford 9 in. kit in his 1973 Firebird:

https://www.pro-touring.com/showthread.php?80483-BMR-Torque-Arm-Installed-on-my-73-Firebird/page2&highlight=TORQUE+ARM

The owner of the 73 Firebird made the following comments to us:

“I've put 4000 miles on it and drive it at every possible opportunity. Notrack time yet due to other commitments but there is always this spring. Istill have to play with the shock settings to soften up the launch, it is justincredible how the car reacts from the factory setup. The rear stays planted nomatter if it's in the corners or straights. I've had ZERO issues with theentire setup, I'm EXTREMELY HAPPY with it. I hope to get some auto-x & roadcourse time this spring.”

I still can't thank you all there enough for everything, the kit reallychanged the car into a ride that I truly enjoy driving.”

Here is a video of a customer who got 2nd place in StreetMachine Class at Kansas Good Guys recently. He is running air over shocks builtfor ride quality not performance and had not adjusted the roll center viaWatt’s Link….. he should be able to cut about 2 seconds off this time just byaddressing these issues.

Here is a link to a recent Two Guys Garage which visually explains what the suspension does and how is does it:

Quick question for the BMR guy... How hard would it be to get a kit with a floater 9"

I have ride tech coil overs front and rear with a ride tech four link. Great quality and customer service

Forgot to add that I have the complete heim joint ends and they do send more noise into the car but that is normal for these. If you are just a going to be making. Street car run the bushing style links.

As for the ride quality it amazing. If you set them all the way soft the ride is great and the car still handles.

I switched from a qa1 coil over in the front and it feels like a completely different car. For the better.

Absolutely, Strange offers a Street or Drag Floater rear end.
