hang with me this might get long .

simple question what is the perfect back space for a 1967 chevelle with stock wheel wells with stock 67 rear end measurments in a 20x10 with a 285/30/20 rear size wheel/tire combo >? perfect as exactly centered in the wheel well , from measuring look like almost 13" of space and the 20x10 will be a little over 11"

5.5
5.75
or 6" or somewhere in between , car is sitting on ridetech air ride and would like the lowest ride possible with out having inner or outer fender interfierence .

anyone have pictures with with a 1967 chevelle with any of the 3 back spaces ?

have to figure out what the perfect back space would be so i can subtract backspacing from the wheel and subtract inches of the housing to make the wheel fit in the same position as it would have in a stock rear with a 20x10 with either 5.5 5.75 or 6" backspace .

plans are a billet specialties 20x10 with a 3.25 back space
and a chris alston FAB9 cut down either -2 ,-2.25 or a 2.5" depending on perfect stock backspacing on a stock 67 rear end .
thanks pictures are welcome of clearance and stance with any of the 3 backspaces , aiming for the biggest lip on a 10" and stock wheel wells .

I had a 67 El Camino and a 70 Chevelle and currently own a 72 Chevelle. These cars may be different in the rear somewhat, but I have been successful each time running 10 inches in the rear of all using 6 inch BS.

How much clearance did u have with 6" bs ?
Where were u closer to ? Inner fender/frame rail out outer fender and inner lip ?

Didn't do any official measurements, but I'd say there's about a half to 3/4 inch between tire and inner/frame rail and a good 3/4 to 1 inch between tire and inner fender. I will try and find the pics I took after installing wheels and tires.

So maybe a 5.75 back space would be perfectly centered ?

Of course, every vehicle is different in some way. Even all a bodies, but I would imagine 5.75 should be good to go.

Anyone have any input? I believe a 5.75 back space would work out perfect . The car is on air ride and will sit low down want the wheel lip too close to the outer inside lip
