So my friend always thinks more is better about everything.
He has a supra.
He got to 600hp a few years ago and melted pistons. It didn't stop him.
This was in 2012- 911Hp

When he runs out of money.

Reminds me of an old joke....

What does a 400HP, 800HP, and 1200HP Supra have in common?

Their 1/4 Mile slips.

The 2jz is an amazing engine. What all does he have done to it?

Hahahahahaha true that. The short answer is what isn't done to it. He entirely reworked the block, full rotating assembly, cams...I mean everything. It has a precision 8280 hung off the side, and completely custom intake manifold and runners. I think last time he ran it he was at 30psi on E-85.

Did the Supra thing. Cool cars, but stupid expensive to make really fast.

Honestly, the 7MGTE that originally came in the 3rd gen seemed to respond much better.

The biggest mistake most Supra guys make is tuning for the dyno. They run GIANT turbos, with massive lag, so the powerband is a blip, and then nothing. This is why they run such slow times. A smaller turbo will yield less peak power, but the spool will be faster and it will make a lot better power throughout the band.

But hey, its his car. If he wants to build a dyno queen, let him have fun.

Actually the car is a lot more responsive than I thought more than a 5,000rpm power range, but its also built to spin past 14,000rpm. I'll have to ask him what his strip times were next time I see him.
