Im not too sure where I should post this.

I am installing some new brake lines and fuel lines which are regular steel. I would like to prevent them for rusting and would like to know if you guys have any suggestions as to what I should use? I would like them to stay the same color. So I was thinking maybe some kind of clear coat or painting them another color similar to stainless steel.

I know I could have bought stainless steel lines and prevented this issue.

This sould be interesting.
The brake lines my z71 rotted out 3 times in the 12 years I owned it. I tryed painting, spraying them with wd40 every month and they are rusted again..same with brake rotors.

I would think that your primary issue will be rusting from the inside out. I have no experience painting steel lines, but I think any rust prohibitive paint would at least slow the rust from the outside. Something like POR15 or maybe even an etch primer and top coat. Just throwing out some ideas.

I personally like the CuNiFer line over steel, unless stainless is used. Got a source through my Mighty supplier,,and I personally have my own hydraulic flaring tool!
