Ok, so dont beat up on me too hard, but technically the car in question is never gonna be a true g-machine, it's a straight line monster. However, I feel like a good set of big dia wheels/tires would bring it outta the 90's pretty easily. With the exception of the wheel/tire combo, the car actually shows pretty well. Theres no super heavy rake; the car hunkers down all the way around, the color isn't a pastel of any sort (black is always the new black), we managed to stuff all the power under the hood with no huge honkin' snorkel, and there no tweed anywhere in the cockpit.

It's just the shoes... good god, those Centerlines KILL me.

SO! I'm trying to find some decent wheels and tires to swap in to make it look a little more PT (or a little more up to date anyway.)

Size-wise, i'm thinking 17's up front, and would be open to anything from 17"-20" out back. Width-wise, the front can probably tuck a 7" wide wheel but no wider, and the rears are currently 13" wide...i think. The car is tucked away in the back of the garage right now so i'm not 100% on that.

I know I'm lookin at spending some serious dough, but I welcome sugestions/ideas/thoughts on companies that have these types of wheels. I know that M/T makes em (the HR1 and HR2 in up to 20" dia.) so i'm looking for any other brands/styles.

Here's the car as it sits:

Can't suggest a specific wheel but I would like to suggest you don't go 2-3 sizes up on the rear. You will still end up with rake or at least the look of a rake. In my opinion that also looks 90's

To be honest I like the way your car looks now but understand wanting to update a bit.

I totally dig your car, but I think you are right in that it needs a little makeover. I have some ideas, but first, a question.

How tall are the front and rear tires?

Exactly. Early Darts aren't know for their massive wheel wells so you may be real limited in what you can fit in the front of that thing that will be a nice balance against what will sit in the rear.

I say contact Rushforth on this. By the way check our this months Mopar Muscle. A very cool A-Body is featured. Nice car by the way.

can you widen the rear and change the axels, a little money to spend to get less of a deep dish rim and still have huge tires

Niiiice !!! If I brought that little gem home my brother would wet his pants.
I agree with the wheel wells being your biggest hurdle. Have the rear openings been stretched? What do you have for a rear suspension?
I would ask if it's for sale but I don't have the room or money, and if I did bring it home the wife would hang a pair of testicles on the rear bumper (and they wouldn't be plastic).:guilty:

lol thanks for all the kind words. In answer to a few of the issues mentioned:

-I'll have to check on how tall the tires are all around.
-You're right about the front clearance issue. I was thinking about that as well. Not alot of room for more than a 6" wheel.
-As far as contacting someone for design work, No need. Car design is my day job so sketching some "what-if" scenarios is pretty easy for me.

Here's a few thoughts on stuff that i know exsists. If you guys come up with some other possibilities, let em know, and i can sketch em up real quick to see what they will look like.

So here's the car with it's current set up:

here's what i thought up as a low cost solution: Kind of an Ode to the ram-charger cars of the 60's (not very PT, but wouldn't require new rear rubber):

And here it is with 18x6's on the front and 18x15's on the rear. Definitely give a different look, though i do have concerns about fitting the wheels up front:

Thoughts comments, other wheels that you know of?
