View Full Version : LS2 and Corvette Pedal won't communicate

I'm reaching out to see if anyone has any thoughts as to an issue I'm having. An LS2 has recently been installed in my '69 Camaro with a T56 Magnum. The engine is out of a TBSS but now has the Corvette intake and a Speed Inc cam. The gas pedal is a Corvette pedal (drive by wire of course). The computer was flashed by Speed Inc but would not start. After much help from John Leonard who has been great so far, Speed Inc flashed the computer with most tables from a 2006 CTS-V. Now the car fires up, but will not read the gas pedal modulation. It shows it as being there but won't accept any change in throttle position.

Is there a certain CPU setup that should be flashed for an LS2, T56 and Corvette Pedal? My options it seems is to figure out how to reflash the computer for the third time or to install a CTS-V pedal to make this thing go. I'd rather reflash since the pedal is already mounted in the car.

Anyone have any thoughts or has anyone come across this? I have an email in to Jesse Bubb as well. Thanks in advance.

Are you sure the pedal is from the same year and model? Gm had SEVERAL different pedal wiring piouts for different cars. Did the pedal work prior to the ECM programming?

Thanks for the reply. We've now tried two different corvette pedals. The next step is to figure out if the computer can be reprogrammed to work with that pedal. The tables being used currently are for a 2006 CTS-V because the components in my car are as close as we can get to those tables. The computer sees the pedal but won't accept input from it.

I'm hoping a conversation with Jesse Bubb tomorrow will yield some positive results.

I'm finding out the computer in the car 58x will only work with the pedals it came with. No 58x computer ever worked with a corvette pedal. Thus, a CTS-V pedal will be purchase. Fingers crossed this fixes the problem.

The problem is not the tune but the wiring. Like sshep said the pins on the gen 4 pedals are not the same. What throttle body are you using? You need to wire the pedal to match your setup.

I'm confused.
What computer are you running?
There are LS3's in the Corvette that run a 58x reluctor wheel and the drive by wire setup.
I'm doing an LS2 now for my 69. It has an LS3 top end on it. I'm running the new LS3 E38 computer with the throttle body, pedal and harness from the same year.
I haven't run it yet so don't know if it will work but I'm hoping it will.

I'd be interested to know if the CTSV pedal works.

Keith.

I will not be much help here as I am not a compatibility expert nor claim to be when it comes to the pedals, ECM OS's and TB's. For this I trust John Spears at Speartech and his years of expertise and every vehicle I build or work with starts right up and tunes properly.

What I do recommend to folks is to help make things simple when on a budget is to use the same components from the same vehicle (ECM & OS, pedal assembly, TB, MAF, MAP, etc.) I see people spend so much time and money trying to make non-compatible parts work. In the end it is usually cheaper and less of a headache to spend the extra money and go with Speartech

I just expierenced the same thing. I have a 69 Firebird with a LS2 from my CTS-V. I was also using a Corvette pedal and my car would idle and not not rev up. I tried the CTS-V pedal also and it didn't work. I found out I had to get a pedal from the Trailblazer SS. With these setups the gas pedal has to send the correct signal/voltage in order for the computer to read it. I tried changing the wiring around and it didn't work either. I hope this helps.

What ecm are u running year and how many conectors two or three on it ? Which ecm e38,e40 or the e 67 are you running and what throttle body the corvette/gto or the tbss one?

The ECM and pedal must match. What's worse is there are variations in the software for the E38 where you can't use a Corvette pedal with an E38 from a TBSS or vice versa. The same is true when trying to mix CTS-V parts, GTO parts, etc. In some cases there are even code variations from year to year that prevent a pedal working correctly. The best rule if you're trying to DIY drive by wire, get the parts from the same car and make sure your tuner does not flash a different model year code to the ECM. If you're not DIY'ing go with Speartech or one of the other vendors that can provide matched parts.
