1969 Cutlass, brake and clutch pedal as included in the Keisler auto to manual swap package.

The plastic bushings that support the whole shaft to the bracket under the dash have worn through. I had noticed the pedals had some excess (at least I thought so) play, and this would be the reason. This is after just a few hours of driving.

Looking at the bracket itself, the area for these bushing to ride on is only as thick as the metal itself, and you can see in the pic it cut a grove in the plastic bushing.

While removing the pedals for inspection, I also noticed that I can slide the clutch pedal side to side about .5-.75", seems like I may be missing a spacer as well?

Something doesn't seem right? What's the solution? Bronze bushings?

Sounds like its the excessive side to side play that is the main issue. I don't have much play with mine with similar plastic bushings and they have lasted years

I decided to upgrade to bronze bushings. Had to drill out the hole in the bracket to 3/4", I left the hole on top of the brake pedal at 5/8" (it's probably 11/16th ID actually, as the shaft is 5/8" plus thickness of plastic bushing) because if I drill that out too, there won't be much material left. The length of the bronze bushings also takes up the side to side slack perfectly.
