I'm getting my 1979 Camaro ready for my first pro-touring event. I'm currently running 255/55R17 in rear and 245/45R17 in front and The car handles this size fine. I'm probably going to spring for the new BFG Rivals, but don't know how wide a rubber and how tall I should go. I've got about 400 RWHP with 3:73 gear . Any suggestions on tire and wheel size??

275/40/17 on all 4 corners, on 17x9.5 with 5.5BS. BFG doesnt make that size, so you can go ahead and buy the Falkens now. Here is a pic of my car with the 275's on all 4 corners.

I have a post in the wheels and tires section with similar info pertaining to this.....

I too was wondering about tire sizes, widths front to rear and such. Curious as to how much spread between front and rear is acceptable and if sway bars, stiffer springs and such help correct a wider contact patch in the rear. Sounds like the "square" tire sizing on the 4 corners is the way to go?
