i bought some dse(afco)front coil over shocks from dse,old over stock they had that have a 9.5 comp-13.5 ext. and i was thinking of modifying my lower a arms to mount it in double shear instead of the t bar.would this effect more or less compression or extension? good idea or bad idea?i just think double shear would be stronger then the to .375 bolts.also the springs dse sels are 550# 10" with a 2.5 lower id,3.5 upper id. is there a spring cup i could buy or make to run a 2.5 id spring fron a late model coil over that i found on ebay pretty cheap.thank you for any help ray.phil :-)

Hey, Phil
There's really nothing wrong with the T-bar, although I don't really like the typical little C-clips holding the shock centered (unless you have a different design in mind). Keep in mind that if you run the lower double shear brackets pointed "up", you are going to lose some shock travel in bump; likely at least an inch.
If your Afcos have the top stud mount, you can simply slide a top spring perch down over the shaft to run a 2.5 spring. 2 things to keep in mind: 1)The shock hole in the stock frame was never made to carry the load from the spring, so reinforcing it wouldn't be bad idea. 2)The shock MUST be able to swivel on the top mount, so you'll have to put some kind of flexible bushing on the top stud. An eye type top mount would be a better choice; in the past I've made adaptors to thread a female 1/2" heim on to the 3/8" top stud, but you'll have to cut the frame bucket out and build a double shear top bracket for the heim.
In any case, you will probably have to remove the inner spring cup from the frame pocket. I don't think you'll have enough room in there for the 2.5 spring to move around.
