View Full Version : Pro-Touring.com is growing again - It's time to pitch the old 2 barrel small block

Just like swapping out an engine in a car once in a while it's time to swap out the engine that runs Pro-Touring.com

Today I placed an order to have a new server built. By the end of March it will be built and I will start testing it. It will be a completely new Intel server built with 4 times the hard drive capacity with a matching size backup, 4 times the ram and a quad turbocharged big block processor that will smoke the current server with tons more port speed.

I expect to release the site some time in April on the new server and possibly with some upgrades in software as well.

The mobile phone apps and tablet apps should all be fixed, it should be lighting fast, there will be a new chat room with mobile apps and video support if you wish and many more things are planned. I hope to finally release the new PT Garage as well.

Yeah, honestly I used to think that 8-10 years ago. Then I realized, at its most simple, this is just making old cars more fun, safe and less of a PITA to drive. This is a formula for success.

Maybe it's also a nice idea to design and implement something like a photogallery with specs and mods of the cars that members own.
Something like CarDomain for example.

Maybe the move will help speed up access. mine is dead slow some times

The server is in Atlanta and I am in California. It's always fast for me. I wonder if it's a geographical deal? Like some server or some place along the way that' causing the issue?
