I am curious about the best movie(tv cars are acceptable too) cars of all time... and why so! I will start.

the 1967 Shelby Mustang ... Eleanor from the remake of Gone in 60 Seconds. It was in one of the best chase scenes of all time, the engine sound was perfect and it had nitrous which helped it outrun a helicopter!!! AWESOME

It still looks good bruised and battered!!!!

It was the first "car movie" I saw started my interest in the genre.

I have alot of favorites, but if I can only pick one, it's Bullit. A '68 mustang fastback has to be one of the best looking cars ever built, and the movie car is beautiful even all these years later, and the chase scenes were great too.

I agree the Bullitt Mustang is at the top of the list. A real car with a real driver.

However, I have to go with the Two Lane Blacktop '55 Chevy (also in American Graffitti).

What can be better than a real 10 second gasser style '55? This car was no poser. :1st:

My favorite is The Gumball Rally (http://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/The_Gumball_Rally/70036917?locale=en-US). An illegal race from New York to LA with a Cobra kicking a Farrari's ass!

Tom Welch

I'm going with Steve Mqueen's 68 fastback. I have read that he took a personal interest in how the car looked for the movie, the wheels, debadging, the shifter were supposed to be his way of making the car look like it 'belonged' in the movie, sort of personalized for his character.

Charger from Fast and Furious is a good one as well. Nothing like good ol' american brute force.

The movie doesn't come out for a few months, but the answer is clear as day in my mind. Ill bump this thread when its released.

A close second is the Corvette from this movie:

A horror movie called "The Car".. Because still to this day that horn sound that it made still haunts me...
In a close second is the Tri 5 from American Graffiti.. Cause its bad ass and Street racing is where it all began for me.
Third... the Camaro from Better Off dead... Cause its a camaro :-)
Fourth The Bullet Mustang form the original movie.. cause nobody has driven a car like that since.... and it was bad ass,

What I like best about the Interceptor is that you can crash is over and over again and it comes back together just like new. I want that feature on my car.

Lol! I was 7 in 77 too and remember that movie. That preview is creepy enough  lol, but the horn brings back memories and chills down my spine . Didn't it come out of the ground in one scene towards the end? They sure dubbed some "killer" exhaust notes from it, wish my car sounded that "wicked" ;) .

I agree with what's been said, however it seems all those car movies from the 60s and 70s were terrible, lol! Cool cars but for the most part lousy acting and scripts.

I really liked the newer Marky Mark version of the Italian job. Nothing like a high speed chase down the interstate with a Yenko Nova! Not to mention all the Mini action.

I also saw Jack Reacher recently, that's a pretty 70 Chevelle there. Sounded good too.

My favorite is John Milner's coupe in American Graffiti, classic American hot rod. A very close second on my list is the 68 Mustang fastback piloted by Steve McQueen in Bullit.

Christine was good, but I also like Wraith with the Dodge Interceptor.

Christine because it was a possessed classic kickin ass n takin souls.
Wraith because it was a futuristic car sent back with a soul for vengeance.
Lots of cool classic muscle cars in both movies too.

Tough, but I would have to go with the following in this order:

1. Eleanor (Gone in 60 Seconds)
2. Bullitt Mustang
3. Interceptor (Mad Max) because i thought it was soooo cool to be able to switch the blower on and off.
4. 77 T/A (Smokey and the Bandit) my first car was a 77 T/A and trust me....they will jump just like in the movies. :)

the '70's were so much better chases than modern movies, done on real streets.

I'm a child of the 70s too, so Corvette Summer was a big one for me, and Smokey and the Bandit. and the Blues Brothers police car.

Crazy Mary Dirty Larry is a real good one and the remake of Vanishing point for TV atleast had a better plot as why Kawalski was running from the law. A lame one is an old made for TV version of Tales From the Crypt that had Brad Pitt in it that he died in a drag race at the end. Like most said half the movies were a little lame but the cars were the best part.

if we're strictly talking best movie cars, id have to say these:

1. flying delorean from back to the future 2 - because it flies.. AND travels thru time
2. aston martin db5 from goldfinger - c'mon.. it has machine guns and an ejector seat!

if we're talking just bad ass movie cars that lit a fire under your arse about cars.. then i'll go with:

1970 challenger - vanishing point
1973 mustang 'eleanor' - gone in 60 seconds
1994 supra - fast & the furious

Maybe its showing my "grumpy old man" sneaking up on me, but I find most modern car films, while somewhat entertaining and usually full of better acting than their predecessors, actually don't do much for me as a car enthusiast. Maybe its because 40 years ago, car culture was still not a mainstream gig and was still somewhat cavalier whereas now days it is not only mainstream, but a bastion of money, rose tinted memories, and objectification.

As such, Two Lane Blacktop and the original Vanishing Point are my two ultimates. Coincidentally, they are the only two "production" movies I have about cars. Everything else is documentaries. In all honesty, almost any schlock movie from the mid to late 70s is fun to watch simply for the cars that drive into and out of the scenes.

If were going for pure awesomeness, it would be the new gone in 60 seconds mustang...but as far as the best car scene in a movie it would have to go to the mini in The Bourne Identity. That chase scene was absolutely incredible and gave that car more balls than the factory ever thought was possible.

The Trans Am from Billy Madison for so many reasons

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZjviMmXIY8

1. T-Tops
2. Billy Squire "The Stroke" playing

This was a pretty cool chase scene. I love Suburbans, they take a lickin and keep on tickin. Mine has been a great truck. The on in the video even has bullet proof glass and the rear 1/4s and tail gates self heal in several scenes. lol!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_46L3X661o

The movie "In time" from a couple years ago had some cool Challengers as police cars. At about 2:15 they show a glimpse of it. Halfway decent movie too.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efNzhEKm3w4

Super 8 had some sweet rides in it. As has been said, it's fun to see period correct movies and the cars in the back ground.

My wife and I saw the Host last night. The aliens all drive chrome Lotus' and bullet bikes, and they have some cool Mercedes Unimogs in it too. Good chick flick if you're into that, but I know none of you sappy guys are, lol!
