So I have a Ford 8.8 rear in the AMC and it has the stock stamped steel cover. I was looking at the aftermarket alum covers and the have these convenient drain and fill plugs that would be great to run lines to a pump and cooler/fan combo. Would this be a wise insurance policy against heat damage to the gear oil? With the low rear gears this thing sees high speed revs in the rear on the high way and its very possible this could make the 4 hour run to Long Island or the Jersey Shore from DC a few times a year. Am I over thinking this area of concern?
