So I have a 79 ish 350 small block I have built years ago now its time to get it running in my 68 camaro. I have new chrome chevy tall valve covers ive had new for years I was going to use on the engine, now i found 283 covers and i rather use them. I have a few questions:
1) These covers came with no breather hole or egr location. How necessary is the EGR and breather, and whats best way to go about adding them, if needed.
2) I have roller tip rockers and will the small covers work or do they require tall valve covers?
3) Im also running a non EGR intake as well wondering if i should change?
thanks

The valve covers on a SBC have nothing to do with the EGR system. I suspect you're confusing the EGR system with the PCV system. You do not want to run an EGR system if you can avoid it. You do need to provide ventilation for the crankcase and the best way to do this is to install a filtered air inlet breather on one valve cover and install a PCV valve plumbed to the intake vacuum in the other valve cover. You can drill the holes in the valve covers and purchase grommets from summit. GM Performance sells a push in oil baffle tube that works very well.
