Was cleaning out and tossing some old magazines I've kept for years. Found the old Hot Rod Herb Adams vs Guldstrand and a better Car Craft MArch 1988 where they track tested several cars with Herb Adams,Guldstrand, HO Racing and Rancho setups and posted the specs for most of those. Thought you all might like those.

Guldstrand-Slalom front spring 700lbs/in, rear 160 lb.in. 1" front bar no rear bar. Monroe Formula GP Shocks. Poly bushings.

Rancho front springs 420lbs/in rear 140 lbs.in Sway bars both adjustable 1 1/4" front 1" rear. Rancho twin tube gas shocks.

HO Racing 530 lbs/in front springs stock WS6 rear springs( I assume 126 lbs/in using Eaton specs). 1 3/8" front bar , 7/8" rear bar Konit shocks.

Herb Adams- front springs stock 1/2 coil cut, rear stock with front spring eye moved up and shackle extension(improve antisquat). Sway bars 1.31 front, rear 1" Bushings-front control arm steel.Nyliners(kind of like Global's but the Nyliner is much thinner than their Delrin portion). Spherical rear front psring eye bushing.

Guldstrand package got the best "race" but harsher ride rating.

Even with better shock technology (Ranchos...really???) we STILL need to decide whether we want a race car or a street car. That much hasn't changed in 25 years....

Yea but they sold them! But Calvert racing uses Rancho adjustables for their drag springs and Cal Tracs.

But yes street, combination(compromise on both sides) or race.

Wow, my T/A is much stiffer than all of those combinations and is a street car, and rides better than my best friend's STi on stock suspension.

My Firebird has these mods along with a few newer pieces I've added (DSE rear springs) and it's a blast to drive and handles great. Everyone that rides in it or drives it always compliments on how well it rides as well as how it turns too. I think it's pretty hard to beat these mods for the $$ !
