does anyone know if a 6.0 chevy van 2004 is a good engine to use in a swap? do people use these to get good power out of as a start?

Yes any ls engine is a good candidate. Cam it at a minimum. Great motor

While not in a car, I did swap one into my Avalanche. I'd agree it's a good motor, however you'll likely want to swap heads as well. They flow erl for stock, however the LQ4's dished pistons and big combustion chamber yields a pretty low compression ratio.

The vans are known for having oddball TACs and pedals. Be sure to get those with the motor. Great motor though.

Got my 6.0 out of a 2004 van. It had been t-boned with about 130,000 miles. Was a little leery about it's maintenance because it was a delivery vehicle. Upon disassembly it was very clean inside. It must have idled a lot. The cylinders were glazed but still in spec. I just ran a hone through it. By the way, mine had the dished LQ4 pistons but it also has coated skirts and floating pins on them!!
