Like the title says......
They mentioned something in the drivers meeting about coming to a complete stop after a spinout?????

My car stuck out like a sore thumb at this event.

Lots of people came to check it out though!!

This was the CCR/SCCA event #2 at the Metrolina Expo in Charlotte, NC
Had a good time. It was an hour away and only $45.

Glad you had a good time..Maybe after a spin they think someone could be little lost and start going the wrong way on course..I've seen it happen before with a near head on collition.Did you get to do more laps after the recorded one? I saw a few DNFs in that one.

I have a thread all about bringing vintage muscle to our SCCA solo2 events.

That's a great video Randy!!! I'm just a little surprised they got so excited and red flagged the run. That was no where near being out of control. It's not like you nailed the throttle to sling it around or anything. Still the official was pretty decent about it when he could've been a butt about it.

On a separate note, that new engine sounds G-R-E-A-T!!!!!! Wow I'm thoroughly impressed!

How did you like that event? I'm thinking of doing that same event in May or the course at ZMax Dragway in April.

We definately had fun. The events are cheap...like $45.
My car sticks out at these things. Most cars are ying yangers. Some are dang fast ying yangers.
There were 90 or so cars there and everyone got 4 runs.....My brother drove as well, so we got 7 total.
It started at 10, and i ran at 1:30 or so. lots of standing for 4 runs. I would not drive over an hour for one of these.

I dont know when the Metrolina Expo was built, but it is old.
The lot has a ton of pea gravel / broken asphalt on it. Everytime I got on the gas it was sideways.

I probably wont go back to the Metrolina events, but i am interested in the Zmax events 4/13, 6/29, 7/23, 11/2 and the kershaw event on 5/27.

Let me know if you are going to one.
Did you register for Southern Slam?

Metrolina Expo is a pretty old venue, it's used pretty much every weekend for a gun show, antique show, or something. I am hoping to make the 4/13 ZMax event. I'll let you know for sure if I can make it.

Do you have to be a member of the Central Carolina SCCA to attend these events or are they open to the public?

I did sign up for Southern Slam too and am really looking forward to it. I have never been to Carolina Motorsports Park, but it looks like a blast judging by the videos I've watched on Youtube.

Looks like you we're having a good time and it appears like it is a good challenge to brush up on some driving skills.

SoloracerSD;
I read your thread on the Musclecars and it was amazing how well they did .

Yes they are having a good time running with us .It has improved their laptime at the other muscle car events they attend like Good Guys and American Street Car Series. One of the best prepared PT cars running with us would be Bryce's 65 Falcon.thread Project Blue Print,1965 Falcon. He basicly teaches engineering in his thread. Most of the Guys run in SCCA Solo2 class Street Modified (SM) Good Guys has a class called Street Machine(SM)

I'm glade you checked out my thread Todd I saw some of your build thread.. It's looking X-Prepared class.Because of the frame.looking serious

You do not have to be a member. It only costs 10 more if you are not. I am not a member.
Just show up and race. Get there at 8 register / pay and go thru tech.
It was funny, when I registered the lady asked what kind of car, and i told them Chevy Nova, and they all looked confused!!
It took like three different guys to come up with a class designation for it.
The next one i am going to run class STO. That is seat time only.
I am just there to get better at driving.

If you plan to do more the 3 events a year at a SCCA event. It would be good to become a member. Here in San Diego it's 20.00 more for none members. If you sign up for the SCCA within 30 days after. That 20 is put towards your membership. The first time I brought in a batch of Vintage Muscle cars to our event.Alot of People were think cone carnage...LOL I brought in 7 guys new to SCCA autocross but had experience with Good Guys.Their cars had falkens and dunlaps, springs ETC.No one Coned Or DNF.Next time they showed up everyone was telling them how impressed they were..

Randy if your ever in the mood for a road trip to San Diego Autocross let me know...:)

You had already DNF'ed before the spinout, and you didnt even try and make the course. Once you spun out you went back in the wrong direction. Dont be 'that guy'.

I guess by DNF you mean I missed a cone, and yes, I did miss one. I continued the CORRECT way as i exited my spin, but thanks for looking anyway.

PS, Thanks for comments on YouTube and yes I am retarted.:drive1:
