I need some advice, it is prolly a silly question but i figured i would ask anyways. Im trying to figure out if my truck has drop spindles on it already, at first i didnt think it did but after i put some 17" rims on a s10 truck that came stock with 15's the rim almost hits the tie rod, now if this is a stock spindle and i put 2" drop spindles on wont that raise the rim and then cause my tie rod to hit the rim? here is the picture im talking about .

Check the spindle for a GM part number. If it's aftermarket it won't have a GM number. You can also check out spindle pictures to compare the spindle height to the caliper mounting ears.
One thing I don't know is if the Extreme series of S10's and S15's used a dropped spindle or a spring change to bring them down. I believe it was a different spring but I am not positive. Anybody know this for certain?

My S10 had dropped spindles on it and the tie rod was in almost the exact same position against the edge of the wheel just like what you show in your picture. If I had to guess I'd say they're drop spindles and not GM.

so i think i got it figured out guys, went out and looked and didnt see any numbers on the thing and i measured it and as far as i can tell i have drop spindles, i just measured from the wrong place to the center of the spindle, here is the pic i went off of, thank you for the help, i prolly would of ordered the new spindle and been ticked off when i didnt get the drop i wanted, now the only bad thing is im going to have to figure out where to get 2 more inches of drop now on top of all the other drop stuff i have planned

I ran 2" drop spindles and 2" drop springs on my truck...it was LOW to say the least but it sure was fun to drive.

im aiming for around 4" of ground clearance to the frame, its sitting at 7 right now, my plan was 2 from the spindle and 1 total from the tall upper and lower ball joints, ill have to see what i have now for springs before i order them, at 2" drop spring sure would make things simple
