View Full Version : QA1 Coilover Adjustment Effect On Camber/Alignment???

I have QA1 Adjustable Ride Height Coilovers on my 72 Chevelle, paired with SPC Adjustable UCAs and SPC Lowers.

When having the UCA/LCA installed, I neglected to advise the tech to raise the QA1's up an inch to compensate for the inch drop that the SPC Lowers come with.

Now that I got it home, I want to raise the QA1's myself. A bit too low for my taste.

QUESTION: Once I make the 1in adjustment, is this going to affect my camber and/or alignment or will it remain static? It seems to me that once I raise it, the top of the tires will move outboard...like it does when you jack the vehicle up off the floor.

you are correct, a height change will chamber camber caster and toe.

You would need to get another alignment.

Sunnuvabitch!

Not such a huge deal, normally....but the shop is only open on the weekdays. Hate having to take time from work just to get the car over there.

(sigh)

Thanks for the quick answer.

I have had good luck setting my own alignment at home.

Buy a toe gage and a good digital angle finder. There are some good at home do it yourself alignment instructions on the web, just google it.

I measure camber directly from the rotor and caster from my spindle.
