This is so stupid.

Lost the chuck key for my 30 year Craftsman drill press. The replacement I purchased from Sears doesn't fit.It really sucks using a 1/4" bit and a large flat blade screwdriver to secure a bit in place.

Is there a way to determine the correct size of the key, and a place to source it?

71478At school we use one of those retractable key ring things like you see on some peoples belts students have not lost a chuck key yet. Hook the reel to the drill press and then chuck key to the ring with a simple brakeline clamp

Thought it read Jacobs 633B, but I'm not seeing it on the list.

I had the key tethered to the press, but it was stripped off during a move.

Greg,

I sell about 10 different keys at the hardware store I work at. I will take a look next time I am there. I also sell jacobs chucks so I could test fit.

Use a drill bit to gauge hole size.

There are also 4 way universal chuck keys, but they can be hit & miss for fitting just right, but can get you by.

On the retractable keyring, prevention is better than cure if not too late
