18x8's up front with 4.75"BS with 245/40/18
18x9's with 5.25"BS or 18x9.5 with 5.5"BS in the rear with 275/40/18

You may get lucky and be able to run even bigger tires, or be unlucky and have to go down a size, but the above sizes are generally the largest/widest you can go comfortably on a 67/68 1st gen.

Use tirerack as a resource for tire size. They measure the tread width of each tire and post it in the specs section.
For instance this 265/35 18 RE-Z1r is 9.7" wide.

Ideally you'd want it +/- a half inch. This is the tire i plan to run and i have 9s in the front and 9.5s in the rear on my '69
