I am building a man cave to work on my toys and need a heater. I have narrowed it down to a tube radiant heater or a forced air heater. The radiants are far more efficient. However you cannot get them very close to a car or other objects. Anybody have any history with these heaters and how far away they should be?

If your building new.I would put hot water radiant in the floor with a with a on demand water heater or boiler. my second choice would be the tube heater. If your putting a lift in,you will need to put it of to the side of it. I think you need3 feet.

those tube heaters throw off some wicked heat! It was freezin cold last week -30deg celcius (i am in canada!) and this one warehouse I was working in had them above each warehouse door...i was 10ft from the overhead doors that had trucks backed in being loaded and i was surprising really warm! this was a HUGE warehouse...so I can imagine 1 smaller on in a garage would work really well.

I have 2 heat tubes in my 60x64 farm shop they keep the shop at whatever temp I want . The nice about the tube heat is if I need to open the overhead door it is quick to recover system. They heat objects and not just the air
