ok, so i put the deposit on it tonight, and should be doing the title work on monday.
this thing is an absolute stripper. manual everything. but its straight and solid, with a fresh 350 and all the chrome.
anyway, on to the questions.
im planning on my first upgrades being chassis/suspension/brakes as this is safety related. the front end on this thing is slap worn out. while doing rebuilding/restoring, ill be upgrading on a budget.
to that end, im planning on doing the jeep grand cherokee power steering swap. the only question i have not been able to find an answer to concerning that is the pitman arm. is it different between manual and power on the 64? what about the steering column?
next up will be a basic suspension rebuild. planning on dropping it ~2 inches all the way around, tall ball joints, poly bushings, and stiffer sway bars. anyone have ideas about what sway bars from other models will interchange? im not a purist, and have no concerns about modifying things to make it work. also, any budget options for stiffer coils all the way around?
on the brake, its already been converted to a dual resivoir master, and new hard lines. still 4 wheel drums though, which will probably get changed to 4 wheel discs in the near future. my plan is to do something that will still fit behind the mint t70's.
lastly, is there any budget oriented handling upgrades im missing? on my old mopars, boxing the LCA's and stitch welding the k-members pay huge dividends. anything like that for the old elky's?
thanks for letting me ask stupid questions. ive messed with gm a-bodies before for customers, and usually they bring me shiney new parts in boxes. this one is going to be much more of a low budget build than theirs. it is, after all, the new shop truck....
