Hey guys not sure where I should place these questions so I thought I would start here.
I'm replacing all the glass in my car. Started today and pulled the front and rear glass out, happy to say no rust hidden under the glass :)

My question is what are you guys using to prep the area before apply the bead of adhesive Urethane? I purchased some 538 primer which I was going to use.
I have already clean off the old adhesive.

Thanks
John

Put a wash etch primer down over the bare metal spots. Then rough up the area for the bead of urethane with a piece of red scotch brite and wipe clean with a dry rag before you apply the urethane. Clean the glass also don't use a glass cleaner with ammonia in it as it affects the adhesion. We use the sprayway aerosol stuff

Thank you Mikey. Can I use a lacquer thinner to clean the residue off from the old adhesive? Also, I would like to place a band of black around the inside of the glass, can I use the primer I have?

Thanks again.

It's a black primer you apply with a dobber type applicator right if so yes. I don't remember the numbers I just have my glass guy give me the stuff. You should be ok with the thinner just let it dry really good before priming

Thanks today I installed the drivers side glass and the windshield. I made the black primer band a little wider like the new cars hides all the good stuff :)
