Hello to all of you! My name is Pete and I am currently in the midst of transforming my 1979 Trans Am from bone stock to Pro-Touring. So far I have completely redone the rear end with 3.42 gears, Moser street axles, VBP composite leafs, 12" Baer SS4 rear disc brakes, new fuel tank, Pro Touring F-Body (PTFB) solid body mounts and frame connectors (welded in the rear only), PTFB upper and lower control arms, Baer T4 13" front brakes, Hotchkis front and rear sway bars, 3 row alum radiator with electric fan, high ratio steering box, and all new steering linkages. I swapped out the 403 olds and built up a Pontiac 400 (462HP) with the help of Kauffman Racing Equip out of Ohio, and mounted a 200R4 (Stage 2, full race prepped) from The Transmission Depot out of FL. Whew!
I have not purchased wheels or tires yet. That is the next step once I get the drive train back in. I hope to get the rest of the front suspension in this weekend.
Anyway, this is an awesome forum! I hope to be a knowledgable contributor and will be an inquisitive student.
