I have some dilemas, I have read as much as I can without going into overload. I have read others build cost sheets, etc. Here's where I am at: I had a Procharged BBC and sold it all except the Procharger. I want to run that on the LS I build. I also have a TKO-600 with the Mcleod RST twin disc clutch that I want to run that has less than 500 miles on it from my last motor before I sold it. The car will be a street car, but I would like to be able to go balls out if I feel the need,:twothumbs.... I have read a ton of other builds with various budgets and I want to keep my prices on the lower end if possible but I also can't run to craigslist ad I see for parts.

Still in the design and parts collection mode but here goes:

I have a chance to get a LQ9 from an Escalade for $1500 complete with harness and ECM and all acc has 80k miles on it. From there I will probably need to tear it down atleast to freshen it up definitely add a cam built for boost, ideally the LS3/L92 heads, and LS3 intake, but I am kinda at a standstill becuase I have no idea on approx cost to do this (labor wise) I mean. I know if the motor has the L92 heads I wont need them, just the intake, and acc, which is another slight problem as I am running a Procharger and many stock setups won't work I'm told. I have no need for PS, just the A/C and Alt.

Another option is to look at something like this for sale here:
https://www.pro-touring.com/showthread.php?96013-L92-LS3-Engine And just make the need changes for this setup, cam, acc, etc.... But its still more labor intensive but I can do a cam swap, atleast I have on previous motors. and since it will be out of the car should be much simplier.

Or do I just do something like this?

https://www.pro-touring.com/showthread.php?95945-Seems-like-a-pretty-goof-deal-on-an-LS3-ready-to-go and put my F1R on it as is and go? Would entail saving a bit more unless they do like a 90 same as cash type thing...

Again not trying to break the bank, but I have read posts of people spending $6000 to build something like whats listed above and then have to get computer, etc.... But then I have also read people spending $3000 and getting the same HP numbers listed above....

I'm ready to get my project going but need to get some advice or clarification maybe from those more knowledgeable than me on this subject.... If someone is willing to maybe help with the maching or build labor I'll gladly take any help I can get!!!

Thx all!!
Brad

I would poke around on ls1tech. I would imagine there are a number of Procharged LS motors there. As for accessories, maybe you could source an fbody or corvette accessory drive for a Procharger. That has got to be your easiest option. I would think a Procharged LQ9 with a blower cam would make great power. The stock bottom ends hold up pretty well. An LQ4 may be a better option with boost since it has a lower compression ratio.

get u a holley high ram intake. send the heads to t.e.a to get some porting, and rebuild short block with arp rod bolts and forged pistons and rings set up for a blower.Call and get u a cam specked for ur motor from pat G (eps) only cost 25$ more to get one spec. U will need a good fuel system to support the motor.Lq4 or lq9 are booth good blower motor starting points.Things will add up quick. Headers, mounts, injectors be ready to drop sum cash.If u do the motor ur self u mite stay under 10g .If u just want to throw stuff together u can get away with 5 to 6k. Ls swaps arent cheap dont buy into the hype u cant do it for a few grand especially a blower motor. Ur weak link will be the tko 600. supercharged ls motor u will be banging gears a 7000 + rpms with easy.JUST BUY UR MOUNTS HEADERS AND TRANS MOUNTS FROM SAME COMPANY it will make it easier then piecing it together. As stayed above ls1tech has all the info u will need plus the classified section may have some stuff u need.

So in all my research the dirty dingo sliders seem to give me several options for mounting the motor, and I'm reading several different sets of headers too. I was looking at the DD sliders, dynatech step headers not sure on either 1 7/8 to 2" step or the 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 and clearance seems to be ok on stock subframe but what about ground clearance? Anybody have options there? My car is pretty low and ground clearance might be an issue.

I've started looking at mid length headers anybody have real world situations where they had both and noticed HP or torque differences? My setup will be a stock compression LQ4 with a good sized blower (Procharger F1R) cam with L92 heads and LS2 intake... Stock subframed will run A/C and alternator no PS.....

Would love others thoughts or opinions or even what they've ran with these DD plates....

Thx

On a NA motor, I don't think you would see that much difference between LT and mid lengths. With a supercharger, I would think it would make more of a difference. As a side note, I have most of a spare F-body accessory bracket setup for sale.

Also, your LS2 intake would be cathedral port and L92 heads are rectangular ports. Either stick with the LQ4 heads with a port job and use the LS2 intake or go with L92 heads and an LS3/L76 or L99 intake. There are plenty of people making good power with the cathedral ports from LQ4's.
