New Tubing Bender

I recently purchased this tubing bender after months of researching and looking for a used bender. The more I thought about it the more it made sense to buy a new bender and tooling. Some benders are cheap but the tooling is expensive and others are hard to retrofit with a power option. I liked the quality of the parts and pieces, the value of the kit was an added bonus too. The kit comes well packaged in several layers of cardboard with detailed instructions. Right away I noticed how precise the parts were, the fit and finish of everything is amazing!

It took me a few hours to get it together and I must say assembly was super easy. Everything is interlocking so you just square the pieces to the base and tack and move on the next step. The instructions are well written with details you'd expect to find in a quality product. Overall this is a well thought out design and product.

The first thing I bent was this piece of Stainless tubing that I had laying around. It's 1.25" .120" it bent it with no problem!

I'm planning to buy a Bender soon. I've never seen this one. Pretty sure I'm gonna go with the JD2. This one looks pretty cool though

that u bend you posted, is the inside of the tube wrinkled? or is the light making it look like that? what diamter is thet die/bend you made there?

I've looked at about every flavor of ratcheting style benders available and couldn't really justify taking up more shop space with one. After all they have to be mounted to the ground in order to work. The other issue I had was clearing space to bend in a horizontal position, because of the shape of my shop I'd have to put everything outside in order to make it work for me.

I think the wrinkling is from the alloy of the Stainless, it is a really rigid stuff for 1.25" material. I have a few pieces of large diameter thin walled titanium laying around I was going to toss in there today to see how it does. Not that I have a real need to bend Ti ever but it's just cool to try.

Well it's portable so at least I can move it close to where I need it in the shop... If you guys are in Cali you should come and check it out.

Thanks for the positive review and pics! We haven't tested any stainless yet... only 1020, 1026, 4130, and 6061 aluminum. On our 1.25 die that you are using, we have bent down to .063 wall thickness, and thinner is tougher to bend without kinks (for anyone who doesn't know). I don't want to just point a finger at the material, but I would be willing to be that is the cause of the wrinkles in this case.

With the really big mandrel benders I've used, the thin and really ridig tubing almost always wrinkles. Most engineering drawing let you have some sort of tube deformation to about 2% of overall diameter, wrinkles included! Thanks again for this product I am really pleased with it and I like to think of myself as a tool snob.
