This is not a Pro-Touring car, its a DD that I need to get working again asap, if a Mod feels this is the incorrect use of this forum since it prolly should be in some FWD forum I fully understand if this post needs to be deleted , but since I dont know any this is my best place to get help in a timely manner.

Well guys I goofed up and should of looked up what I was doing before I did what I did. I was pulling the tranny out of my brothers 1995 buick park avenue and when I tryed to take out the passenger axle I couldnt get it to "pop" out of the tranny, what I should of done was used just a hair bit of force to pop it out, instead it took the side housing off and pulled on the axle, well it pulled the entire axle shaft and part of the inside of the tranny with it and now im not sure if I have it put back together properly. I think all the parts back inside the tranny far enough, but my brother broke the housing putting it back on while I was out buying some gaskets and then ran down to the parts yard to get a new housing and left the broken housing there, so i have no idea if its far enough in yet. Now my brother has very little mechanical skills so it is very possible that he didnt square up the housing when he started to tighten everything down, and since its made of aluminum it snapped it right in half, what im needing help with is, I cant find any good info on how this should look without fully tearing the tranny apart and building it. Any help would be great, I pushed my project out of the garage in the snow to help him out and I would like to get my truck back inside as soon as possible.

the gears on the diff are only half touching even tho i think everything is far in as possible, is this normal for a fwd drive car?
