My first thread and Im a noob here to this site. Looks awesome so far, great site. So I purchase a 1987 Buick Regal to use as my daily. Decent body and engine 2 tone paint job that rolled hard. I wrapped it in vinyl (3M)Carbon Fiber to make it a cool cruiser. Dubbed it Carbon Vader and now the engine died on it. None the less my cosine hooked me up with a donor car (1996 Impala SS) that he no longer has use for. So I want to give Vader a transplant with Lt1 engine. I figured I would have to bring both Lt1/4l60 and swap out with a firebird/camaro shaft, fuel lines tbi from SS, but what I need help in is the break transplant and tranny harness. Also the Regal has the original Digital Gauges that I would like to keep but still cant find any forums that can help with schematic or how to. Have to link up the computer from the SS to the fusebox?:smoke: daaaaang, now what? I need some helpski guys. Thanks for the tips in advance!

Not to get off on a tangent, but does your cosine have a sine in front of his place??

The 96 Impala will likely be OBDII, so I'd forget hooking the Regal gauges up to the computer. Basically keep EVERYTHING off the Imp, and figure out how to get power and grounds to the stock 96 harness.

I hate grammar nazis on the internet but this is hilarious.

"Not to get off on a tangent, but does your cosine have a sine in front of his place??"

Would the guys on the G-body forums know about the gauges?

lol no guys my Cousin does not have sine in the front lol I didn't know I would have to take the spell check seriously. :)

I'm on the Gbody forum but no one has suggested anything. I have not found anyone who has rewired this digital dash....I would hate to rip out and get one machined... I'm itching to start on this project and drop this engine but the fools around my area are telling me 'I'm insane to drop that engine into this Regal and don't want to approach the job. Seems like I may have to gather my mind back to when I was a kid again and get my hands dirty with the swap myself. I just don't know what I'm doing now that its been 15yrs that I've done anything like this. Any encouragement is appreciated!

Update: New Year. Haven't driven CV around much other than the driveway. I took it around the block and the OG 5.0 busted a leak from the radiator/transmission line. I'll see if I can take a good picture of the crapzilla job the previous owner did. On a good note I think I found my first Local Sponsor; booyah.

Here are a few helpful links.

The gauges should be pretty easy to wire up. Nothing really special from what I can gather. And there are places that repair the cluster if it's bad and you really want to keep it. I did an LT1 swap on my 65 Chevelle and the lt1swap page was invaluable. I used the original harness and wired it all up with no problems. Been using it as a daily driver for a few months now with no issues. HTH.
