Been doing some bartering and homework on a Ford Falcon I am messing with and came across a guy I know who says he has a complete (minus wiring) LS7 he willing to sell me for a great price (still a good price if an ls1 even) so I am kinda worried about it.

He mentioned it came out of a 2007 Corvette that was wrecked at a track. I am trying to get him to send me a few pix before I drive to his shop.

My worries are: He said he has a TH400 for it? Seems a but dated for such modern machinery. What should it of had? No wiring worries me a bit (not sure if ecm included) but might of been a hassle to remove if wrecked? Engine owner says he wanted to carb it in his hotrod.. WHY!?

Help me identify this thing please.... Links to running casting #s and etc would be great! :headbang:
Thanks in advance!

While LS7 were available in 07 corvettes, I can assure you none was ever attached to a th400. They were attached to a torque tube, generally attached to a t56 transaxle.
Are you sure he's not referring to the Mark IV carbed BBC of the late 60s/early 70s? Those could have been attached to a th400.
BTW, you could attach a th400 to a new LS7, just not sure why anyone would. Not sure if anyone makes a carb manifold for the LS7 heads either.
Do a search over at LS1tech, all the info you could ever want is over there.

Ask for pics. If it's a Gen IV LS7, it'll have 7.0 stamped on the side of the block.

I was told 2007 Corvette and that he would swap to carb.... my only HOPE that it is a 427 7.0 engine. Every other part has me cautious. These usually sell for 7-15k dont they?

I will get pix as soon as I can and casting numbers.

How does a torque tube work? What would I use uf swapping modern LS7 into classic muscle?

I will also post my questions at Ls1Tech.

The torque tube is only for the C5 and up Vette with rear transaxle. You can mount any Chevy style trans to a GENIV LS7 using the proper parts. Post the pics here when you get them.

I would ask about the dry sump parts too. That would add a lot to the cost of the build.

These were the pix I recieved. Dont believe its what I was originally told

I was told there was a small engine fire and the plastic components and wiring would need swapoed to a carb'd setup and new harless. He was still asking $750 which I believe to be steep especially after sitting 3years

That looks more like an LM7 (truck 5.3) than an LS7. I would venture to guess he is lying if he said it came out of a 2007 Vette. I would tread carefully.

I agree it looks like a truck motor and if that's the case I wouldn't mess with it. You can buy them complete for $500.

Iron 4.8, 5.3, or 6.0 truck motor. Are you sure he said LS7 and not LM7? Approximate value would be -$50 to have it hauled away.

Looks like a truck water pump and exh. manifolds.

Truck water pump for sure.
That thing is a mess, I wouldn't touch that.
