I've always liked reverse opening hoods (vette). However, on the majority of muscle cars I see around, it would be a complete pain in the ass to get any type of work done on the engine with a hood that opens like that.
Not to mention the amount of weight that the system likely adds. I think it would be something cool to look at when at a car show, but I want to be able to go to the track and make quick adjustments without having to work around a dang hood. Give me a lightweight glass lift-off and I'm set!

Cool to look at on someone elses car.. too much $$ and like you said, hard to work on the car (it would seem)..
I do like that hood opens backwards though.. I always have an un-natural fear of my hood opening at speed.. hey, it happend to Chicanye.. They should sell a manual system for low bucks..

I made this (http://www.iimuchfabrication.com/NewStuff/photos/Hood%20pics%20002.html) from BMW 3-series parts. It wasn't that difficult, and uses a interior lever that pops the hood latch via cable. Lifting the hood from there is manual.

You guys crack me up.
Actually, I had to do something ... the reverse hood is required: at full bump, the tires would have hit the oem hinge. Jeremie from here suggested the BMW setup and sent me some pictures. I got all the BMW parts for less than $170 from a dealer in New England.

Does that $1800 include the hood or do you have to go purchase a $500 glass hood and then proceed to modify it? Either way, it is too rich for my blood.

For my car having the hood up front is a benefit. My engine is set back 8 inches, and having the hood up front gets it out of the way. Plus, I don't need to pin my hood since I have it anchored at all four corners.
I'd guess the key to making this work is to have the hood open all the way up. If the hood is only "mostly" open, it would indeed get in the way.

Yea, Troys dad told me about it at the Hershey show..
Got on the car hard so that massive HP twisted the car.. when they got off it (at around 80mph) the twisted back the other way so violently that the factory hood latch failed and the hood popped.
Hood came back but did not hit the windshield or fenders. Still did about $10k or so in damage. I think Troy or someone from his shop was driving so thier insurance covered it.
That is why the car now runs two rather large ARP bolts at the hood corners :)
True Story..

A whole glass tilt front end might be cool on a track car.
