Question about RideTech's Universal stand alone Select Series shocks for a 2nd gen fbody:

Can these be used with OEM springs at factory ride height?

My OEM shocks are:
Front
9.38" comp, 14.38" ext, 4.62" stroke
Rear
13.0" comp, 19.63" ext, 6.63" stroke

I found these universal parts:
RideTech Select Series Shocks - 25149805 (front)
10.6" comp 14.75" ext 4.1" stroke stud 25249905

RideTech Select Series Shocks - 25269805 (rear)
13.5" comp, 19.5" ext, 6" stroke stud 25269805

Can these be used with factory suspension?

The short answer is yes. All we really need is a length dimension, which you have provided. Our compressed length is a little long but in the real world your car will likely never get to the compressed dimension anyhow. You will want to cycle the suspension through its travel to verify that...to make sure you don't bottom the shock out.
Awesome shocks...you'll love them!

Well I took some careful measurements and found the front suspension can indeed compress the shock down to 9.5". From the looks of the bump
stops it appears it has done so in the past.

ride height=12"
comp height=9.5"
extended height=14.5"

Also, the catalog I was looking at was pretty old and some of the specs have changed,

RideTech Smooth Body Shocks Select Series - (2012 catalog)
9.65 comp 11.01" ride 11.92" ext 2.6" stroke stud 25129805
10.35 comp 12.13" ride 13.32" ext 3.6" stroke stud 25139805
11.05 comp 13.13" ride 15.55" ext 4.1" stroke stud 25149805

The 25139805 looks like the best match but would bottom out as you indicated. The 25129805 looks to be too short.
So I guess I'll wait for the HQ smooth body 22159846 to arrive next year.

honestly why not simply replace your older weak springs with fresh set, make a new snubber that keeps it from complete bottoming out and put in new shocks.
honestly if you have fresh shocks and fresh springs its less likely to have any bottoming out issues as shocks ARE supposed to help control the compression/rebound and control it. Hitting the bump stops means nothing is controlling the suspension adequately.

One thing to remember when measuring for the RQ & HQ replacement shocks is they measure like a OE shock would. I can email you a measurement diagram if you would like. Also PM me your address and Ill get you a new catalog out.
