You should try posting about a dodge charger, then you really would hear crickets....
Truth is, most here are into first and second gen camaros, so don't look for a lot of love when it comes to gbodies. There is a large thread on gbodies and several that love them, me included. I had a 80 malibu that had a lot of cool parts 5 years ago. They are the next big body style, but you may still be about 10 years early.

You have a really nice looking car! Replies in threads are more likely if you are asking for opinions, information, installation tips, advice, etc. Since your car appears "done" in pics you've posted it's not likely that anyone will ask you about whats next or questions about what you're doing like in a build thread. They just enjoy your pics, learn a little and move on.

There's a lot of us with G bodies here, probably more than many people realize. I'll bet there's an even higher percentage of G body owners among the lurkers who aren't members yet and there's usually about 3X as many lurkers reading the board than members. Being newer than the factory "musclecar era" late 60's early 70's cars they are just now really becoming really popular and old enough to be easily accepted and not be considered too new to be included in the loose definition of Pro Touring. Kind of like a 3rd gen F body or a Fox body Ford which you don't see as many threads about, YET.

I have an 81 Malibu I've had since the mid 90's. Don't think I posted anything about it on this forum till a couple years ago.

You're stuck in the backwater with those of us driving the 80' 3rd gens or very late 70's cars.
They're "vintage" but not old enough to be "protouring" as of yet.
We're getting there....

BTW Nice car!

You have a nice looking car and I personally really like G-bodies. I will probably suffer the same fate since I have a 74 Firebird and most are going to like 70-73's and when you start looking at the 70-73 Firebird threads, you will see that it is the same group of guys that comment on each other's cars. The First Gen Camaro's get the most play followed by the second gens from what I have seen.

Thanks for the replies guys i have to agree with you all of you and understand that most building car on website are 60s and 70s cars. The car is still a work in progress things id like to do here and there its never actually done you all know that anyways the car took a complete turn around was into the drag race look up until two years ago to make this thing handle and it was the best idea and money spent no looking back so enjoyable to drive and turn and cruise the cars tight and feels all there like im in real control of it !

I'm into them. This Monte has the first aftermarket chassis, made by Schwartz Performance, and has received a lot of attention. This car should change some minds about the capability of the G-Body platform. Continue with your build and be a leader and not a follower. When your ready go out and show your stuff, the respect will come.

At least you own a monte, I have a g-body olds and I fear it will be like the 60's thru 70s olds bodys, there will be very few places to buy panels to fix rust, the buick guys have some help because of the grand national, so Ill just have to be creative with rust replacement along with the pontiac guys, nice car by the way, one day I plan on having a DD Monte.

I love Gbodys, since my first car was an 83 Elky SS, which my dad now owns. My dad used to have an 80 Malibu, and currently has an 87 MC SS, which is for sale. I'd love to buy it and do some Pro-Touring treatment to it. I posted in your pic thread already. Nice car.

My old Elky in it's current state. It never looked this good when I had it.

I know a guy who is into G Body's...who has owned one since 1998...and race's it every chance he gets...oh wait..THAT'S ME!!!

Check out my build thread for pretty much everything I have done to this car. It's spray painted, doesn't have a custom chassis, but will hold it's own. It's the OG of autox monte's.

There are a lot of nice looking G Bodies in this thread so I think you can feel the G Body love!!! I have owned and rebuilt a few. Matt! Your dad's is a beauty!
If you want to hear crickets, try building an Astro Van! I don't judge the popularity by responses though... I go by the hit count on my thread! Lots of guys watching! :)

I've got a few just waiting to get done. I love all the G-bodies, Chevy, Olds, Buick, Pontiac.

Good looks, more compact size, great ride, comfortable interiors, an engine compartment capable of swallowing most anything, lots of aftermarket support... What's not to love about them?!
A future build plan for me will be a 1988 Cutlass Supreme with cues to earlier 442's and Hurst/Olds cars! So it's not an f-body, marching to a different drummer is not a bad thing!!!
