Out with the old, in with the new...
Traded away the TA the other day 'cause the project really wasn't what I wanted to do. I've always wanted an old Mustang to play with at the road course and drag strip, so I bought my tow vehicle/daily driver, an '03 Silverado SS.

Seriously, what are your initial impressions of the truck? I have always wondered if they were special or just another pretty face. They have all wheel drive right? Should haul the mail.

Good Choice In Truck. Visit Silveradoss.com. The Sight Has A Bunch Of Guys That Are Very Helpful. I Know Alot Of Them Have Blowers And Special Trans Work Done By Zippy Performance.

They run around 6 seconds to 60 and about 15 flat in the quarter stock, so not as quick as the SRT-10 or Lightning. I do have vicous coupled all wheel drive though, which launches like a bat of hell every single time, plus lends itself better to all year driving in midwest winters.
A higher stall converter from a Trailblazer will set my stall to about 2200, then a CAI made from a K&N and cutting into the stock air box, along with some mandrel tubing is pretty much all I have planned for now... Maybe exhaust to get a meaner growl. The converter is supposed to drop .5 to .8 off of the 0-60 time alone!!!

Seems like the STS kit is putting down great numbers and come in 1200-1500 cheaper, plus the easier install. I've been over there at silveradoss.com all weekend and it's already cost me several hundred dollars, as seen by the response above, LOL! :help!:

i just read about he newest ss that is out ..rear wheel drive only..guy from my townjust got one but not sure if his is the brand new one ..gotta chase him down and get a ride in it..nice truck by the way..

Perhaps he got an SSR, not a Silverado SS??? The new Silverado SS's are still all wheel drive through the current 2005 production runs.

no he has an ss..it an 05 all wheel drive model..but in the current issue of chevy high performance they have an artical on the 06 ss and it will be rearwheel drive

I was waiting for you to chime in on it. 20's still look poser on most pro-touring cars to me though. If you drive it with 20's on it, fine, but that's not the norm for most trailer queen rides with 20+'s I've seen. To many people with that big of a rim on a midsize car have to run such low sidewall that it just kills the look, which again, is subjective, but it also partially kills what I view to be Pro-touring... which is do "everything" well, drag, corner, and stop. Anything past a 17-18 on most cars offer nothing in performance gain over the same diameter/width tire in the 17-18 inch size and usually done for looks. When do you get the most looks? When you're posing. :poke:

HA HA I couldn't resist...had to jump in on it! Truck looks good though! My daily driver has 18's and 20's is that enough driving!

Very nice truck! I had a 99 Silverado Z71 and loved it, but the wife wanted a Suburban. I couldn't do both, so while she rides in a '02 Sub, I choose between 2 old chevy pickups.:nopity: I did get to keep the Camaro, though!:woot: Thanks honey!:scared:
