tire fitment

Hi, I have a 78 Firebird with stock 15x8 snowflakes and I was looking on mickey thompsons site and saw their sportsman R/S tires that are somewhere around 12 inches wide, but they say they will fit an 8 inch rim, will this work or will it be too much for the rim? I've never seen a 12 inch tire that will fit an 8 inch rim, thanks

Hey 78 Bird, I used to have a 295/50 rear on my 81 Bird w/ 15x8's. I did have to hammer in a flat spot on my exhaust (passenger side only), but this would be different from vehicle to vehicle (assuming most vehicles have had some modification in this department. If you could verify 12" wide vs the 295 mm w/ 50 sidewall, it may help you get a better idea.

Alright thanks! Fitting under the wheel wells isn't a huge concern of mine, as long as the stock rim could handle that tire, I can make it fit :) thanks again
