68568I recently god a set of 4 275/40r17 bfg's for a steal at $88 a tire. :yeah:(gotta love sam's club). I was wondering if there was any way they could fit on the front of my car. I dont have a very high budget so I cant experiment with wheels and offsets.haha. I was also wondering what backspacing I should get for the front and rear wheels. And if anyone has any input on wheels that are cheap and would make it all work that would be great. Im a college kit so no ccw's or Forgelines yet. Haha thanks
Also im pretty new here so... hello to all!!!

They would fit the rear with a 9" rim but the front will be tough. I have a 87 Turbo T and had 245/45/18 on the front but they rubbed in the wheel well back and top. I currently have 17*8 and 17*9 Rev 100s on the car with LS1 brakes on the front.

for offset, you want to keep it close to zero, with the stock brakes. As stated, the top and back of the inner fender is where 255 or larger tires will rub in front, even with perfect offset. It back, 275's generally need a fenderlip roll unless frame clearance is kept to less than 3/4 of an inch. The sweet spot in back for 275's is 1/2" of frame clearance. The offset to achieve this is close to zero, but is probably. Negative 1/4" to 3/8" in reality.
OEM takeoff rims with Wheel adapters is the cheapest way to achieve the custom offsets desired. Because these rims would require a 1.5" - 2" adapter to work, you can get the offset perfect with the correct adapter selection.

Bot of these responses are great, but to cross over to "awesome" they would need one more piece of data. If you can figure out what they need to provide to reach "awesome", you get a gold star!

I did a 275/40/17 on a 10" on the front of a Buick T. It was tight and Id say I wouldnt do it unless I had to(I had to). I did look mean and didnt rub but I didnt throw it in some serious handling situations either. A 9" is the most Id use and a 255 as well. You will need about 4 7/8 to 5" BS on the front and work or machine the brake line bracket because it will rub. On the back I ran a 10" rim and 315/35/17. THat worked because I rolled the fenders and had 5" BS. I also had a 3.5" pinion snubber that kept the Q-panel off the tires. You will need to lower it with some Eibach springs to get it look right.

I have MB old school rims, $150 ea for 17x9.5, 5.5" backspace. I looked up the wheels on discounttiredirect.com, printed the price and the free shipping advertisement and the local Discount Tire matched the price but they added on sales tax. I figured that was a good trade to have someone local mount them up. (they also have 17x8" for $146) I currently run 275 40s on the back and 255 40s up front. I recently swapped the 275s up front to make sure they didn't rub because I will be putting 315s out back soon and moving the 275s up front for good. It barely rubbed on the frame at full lock on only one side. I drive the car hard and had no other issues while daily driving with them on there for a few days. I look forward to moving the 275s up front permanently. The 255 40s on the 9.5" wheels never rub.
My car is dropped 2" up front via cut springs and tall ball joints. I have SPC adjustable upper control arms, and 12" LS1 Camaro brakes on hubs made from cut down g-body rotors mounted on stock spindles. A 10mm (hub and wheel centric) spacer made the perfect offset up front. The inner fender wells have been removed. Out back I have the stock g-body 7.5" rear and 1" spacers to kick the rear wheels out like the front.
These photos shows the 255s up front, but gives a decent visual of offset and ride height. Check my build thread link in my signature for more.

@srd. Did you have to do anything to the frame or anything in the rear to run the 9.5s? I'm looking to do these wheels in 8s and 9.5s on my 78 wagon.

If you don't mind me asking what rims did you get for the car and if you know what is a good site to find some affordable rims? I have an 88 cutlass, I'm looking at some 18's for like what you have but they only have 22mm and 15mm BS so it's making me think they would not work for the car. I'm new to this game and trying to learn as much as I can any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!
