Im new to posting on this forum but have been soaking in all the wonderful builds. I have done several searches but have not found anything on this topic so im asking. Has anyone done a build on one? If you could point me in a direction it would be appreciated.

Ok I have a chance to buy one in good shape and I think this is one car that did not get much love. I had one about 18 years ago and wish I had never sold it. I do think these cars would make a great starting point and if you look back at old pics you will find that they did road race them.

Thanks for any help.

Buy it, build it. They can be cool. I am doing a Maverick, and getting tons of positive feedback. It will be different, and different is cool!

I have seen one in the Projects forum. I believe it was a Monroe Handler give-a-way car.

There was also one built quite some time ago that really kicked some serious butt. I believe the owner posted under the name El Cino ?? I don't think that is right but his screen name sounded similar. He also received some ink in one of the mags but I can't remember which one.

Look in the new issue of PHR. they say the Mustang II is one car to collect now. (?) in the book, How to Make Your Muscle Car Handle by Mark Savitske. Mark states that the mustang II is a very desireable suspension to build with possible more parts available than the 1st gen camaro. I found this one as my wifes first car was a mustang II and has mentioned wanting to get another. This one looks just mean.

^^I'm a Chevy guy lol

There was a very cool one in PHR a few years ago. I think there are some posts on this site about it. Seach a bit.

I'd rather have one of those than like a 73 mustang. Put an aluminum LS motor in it, some suspension work, bang, quite the racer!

Thanks for all the replies. I did look around but have not run across anything yet.

My biggest problem is I have so many projects now I just did not know if I should take on one more for the future.

A Team Racing out of Bend, OR, is building one with a tube chassis and a Triton V-10. Check out their Facebook page, SEMA Be Cool Bomber Project.

Was searching something else and stumbled in here. Thanks for the heads up on the PHR article of collectible cars. Makes me laugh because a co-worker recently sent me an link to the top 10 worst cars and the mustang ii is usually unfairly number one, but actually got beat this time by the aztec. The rendering looks great. Gives me new ideas for a new bumper. Also thanks to howehot for the hint on the triton v-10 MII on facebook. Really cool to see I'm not the only one playing with these. Would be cool to see a MII in the Optima challenge st SEMA.

The Vega ( my "other" car) usually doesn't do much better. I just grin and give them the one finger salute. I know the truth. :yeah:
Have you done much to the Mustang since you last posted?

I just added a rear panhard bar two weeks ago. feels much more predictable. Other than that, a busted rear fender and 6 years of commuting wear and tear its the same as it was for the PHR magazine shoot. I'm actually just getting back to messing with it and been taking it to autocrosses and hopefully some track days soon. I was bicycle racing and when my son was born I found it easier to play with the car than to train for racing with my drastically reduced fun time

I'll be looking forward to any updates.
You just may inspire me to finally do something with my Vega.

Maybe you could time permitting update us with your car. I have not had a chance to get out and look at this. The wife is not real happy about getting one more project. You know the old saying "it is better to ask for forgiveness then it is for permission"? Last year I did lighten my project load last year but I still have a couple.

Well there is also the guy who built a turbo pinto with swing arm suspension (he ran Power Tour couple of years, and it ran 10s) was supposedly gonna build a MII.
Found a KING COBRA!
Also here in southern Indiana I became friends with father of a soldier wounded in Afghanistan and cant use car anymore due to control requirements. I was talking to the son before he deployed(he is now in NY married and doing well and modifying an Astro van of all things and yes he knows about Astroracer) about wiring in a FI 302.
Now dad has spoken to me about it, it was 302 4 speed, son started installing 302FI from 95 Mustang Cobra but was talking about possibly transbraked C6. Engine is sitting in it, couple bolts in man bellhousing, but little to no wiring done.
Dad offered me some shelter during hail storm while I was on my bike. Then we actually found out we knew each other through son.
He showed me car (son had brought it over as he sold his old house/shop when deployed as he was gonna have to move anyway due to I69 expansion) and I recognized it.
Had been looking for something I could get cheap and use for daily driver as my Cavalier is getting long in tooth. Derrick, the son had figured out fuel pump/sending unit but not reinstalled tank before selling place and moving car. Now he uses wheel chair thanks to Al Qeada and a IED but is modding an Astro van so at least he is still hot rodding.
Ill see if I can find pics of King on my phone file,,,kind of cool looking under a tarp (circa/ala old car magazine find type pics) just dusty. HMMM Caprice big block, twin turbo sbc Monza,,,,,,,,,,,, King Cobra? nah too many projects as we speak.
