Is it safe or very difficult to modify carbon fiber panels or parts?

Non of the parts I am looking at to modify are structural parts, the are mainly body parts or interior parts or panels. For the most part I am wanting to add a few vents and or duct work to them.

Aerospace uses epoxy to bond composites.

Look into a good epoxy from loctite or 3M.

It is safe to modify carbon fiber parts. Use the same precautions you do with fiberglass.

Depending on how much work you are doing you may find it cheapest to buy specialist cutting tools. Normal drill bits will not last long in good carbon fiber. Also you have to deal with blow out on the back side of the hole. And delamination on both the entry and exit of the hole.

I wrote a thread on how to make a carbon fiber dash panel a couple years ago you might find useful tips in. https://www.pro-touring.com/showthread.php?62487-quot-How-to-quot-carbon-fiber-dash-panel-for-2nd-gen-bird-Anvil-Autometer-Vintage-Air&highlight=carbon+fiber+dash
