Saw the movie tonight. Ya know, it was one thing when Hollywood trashed cars for movies 10- 20 years ago, but trashing the same vintage of car now just sucks. There are some bitchin' cars in the movie, a lot of them are wrecked.....bad. Other than that, the movie was better than I expected. Jessica helped me through the car brutality.

The movie was good. The slides the General did were my favorite part of the movie.

I got the August Hot Rod yesterday and the General was on the cover. It has a good write up about the movie too.

The movie was great. I laughed all the way through it. And yes it was a little like dumb and dumber but that was the funny part. You have got to go see it.
But, this is not a good kid movie. There were cuss words ALL THE WAY through it.(sob, gd) You name and they said it.

My girls love the original Dukes show-they have all the episodes on DVD-but I thought the movie may not be suitable for them. I may have to see it though!

This has a lot more adult humor in it. But yeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaw, it was fun!

When I was leaving the theatre someone blew a "dixie" horn in the parking lot....RAD!

dont forget, the cars they wreck in the movie were just rust piles with a face lift and paint.

I want to go today but I will feel like a tool, maybe I will buy tickets for an intellectual movie and then sneak into the dukes movie.Told the wife we would see the penguin movie...

I thought it was great. Being a Georgia guy, loved seeing Hollywood's version of us almost as much as Jessica.

I've been resisting this thread until I saw the movie. I liked it. Wife didn't. With the exception of profanity, the plot is designed for an eight year old. But I guess 8 year olds are exposed to bad language these days. The 12 year olds in the row behind us ( and in front of us, and to either side of us) kept falling out of their seats everytime Jessica Simpson appeared. I personally thought she was a little overdressed.

Johnny Knoxville rocks. I really enjoyed watching him fall off roofs, fly thru the air and crash into walls. It's an art form. I hope he makes it big. He needs to do a movie with Will Farrell.

I guess Year One supplied all the resto parts, because they got a TON of exposure.

Went and watched this saturday night with the GF. It was a good movie but seemed targeted to the new generation instead of our generation. Some of the Willie nelson lines were just plain stupid. All of the jumps looked excellent and not fake like some movies. There were a few pretty funny parts in there like "Put another shrimp on the barbie" I about died on that part. :lmao:
Jessica really helped me get thru the boring parts. Great eye candy.
I did get a nasty feeling in my stomach seeing them beat up the 68 Mustang and a few other cars but now knowing they were just junkers makes me feel a little better. Overall I didnt think it was too bad at all and I will rent and burn it for the collection when it comes out.

You sure? With a $53M budget I'm sure they wouldn't blink at buying good stunt cars. I always hope they're rustbuckets with no floors and bad engines but I wouldn't be surprised if they were nice solid CA cars that were bought cheap with bad paint...

The driving was amazing and the way it was shot made it even better. It had something car scenes usually forget -SPEED! The cars seemed to be hauling ass instead of just swerving through slow moving traffic to appear faster.

Steevo is right johnny, knoxville saved a pretty weak script, my wife laughed her ass off.

Loved the black shelby, did anyone else notice the year one chevelle? :icon996:

Rhys Millen did a great job of driving the Charger. The slide around the traffic circle with the cops on it's tail was priceless. The fastback mustang and the charger banging doors took me right back to Bullitt. Except this time the right car crashed. :)

there was a lot of things in the movie that only a car guy would appreciate. No silly wings or graphics, the cars on the grid all looked sick.

I guess jeff gordon inspired the mustang driver?

the charger sounded insane.

I am pretty sure that I recognized the 67 chevelle as well as its clone that got crashed. Probably not the real year one deal in the driving shots, but they had it in the pits if I was not mistaken.

I have not seen the movie yet. I definetly plan on seeing it. A lot of the scenes were shot within a 12 mile radius of were I live. I would see trailer loads of cars coming down the highway by my house. There were about 50 cars in all. They kept them and worked on them at a an old car dealership in Baton Rouge. There were a lot of local cars in the movie that I have seen at car shows. I passed by the day they were shooting the car ramping on the interstate, but I didn't see anything. ok I'll quit rambling on, I just thought it was neat that they filmed this movie so close to where I live.

Even if the cars were junkers....that still makes me cringe. I love the '69 Charger, and they are getting scarce and parts are nearly impossible to find. I would say that even the junkers should be sacred because they could still be saved. I don't think I'll go to see it just because it turns my stomach to see a rare car trashed just to provide eye-candy on the silver screen.

That one commercial for Farmers Insurance where the red '68 Camaro convertible gets pushed into the ocean.....I sure hope that was digitally done and that poor car was not sacrificed for some crappy insurance commercial.
