So I'm making my parts list for the LS1 brake swap on a 1st gen Nova. I've been looking around online for the calipers and I haven't found any that I really like so I thought I'd ask the forum to get some ideas where to look.

So where did you buy your LS1 calipers?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Here is a set of fronts in the classifieds, not mine.

Check your local auto parts stores. I had my local one bring in both calipers with brackets so I could do some measuring.

Summit, but most places will charge you a core. Buy loaded and it comes with the abutments.

Junkyard. I just did this entire swap on my car (65 Skylark GS) to include the f-body booster and master. The only parts I bought new were the mounting brackets for the front spindles and the caliper rebuild kits from rockauto.com. I got lucky and found a 2000 firebird in the yard that looked like it had just had a recent brake job so the pads were new. I am into this swap for around 350-400 bucks and these brakes work great.

Ebay.

I got calipers, brackets and low mile slotted Rotors for $100 shipped.

When my son is old enough to go to the junkyard, I'll let him enjoy that father/son bonding experience, but until then, I'll do my junkyarding on the net.

The Core charge at the local autoparts store is $66 each, so calipers for less than $100/pair will save you money if you decide later to go for new.

watched Craig's list....was actually looking for my LS!....but stumbled on someone that had already sold the engine.....turned out to be a kid parting out the car....pulled it myseld got everything including the booster and m/C...front and rear for $40. He threw in a DBW accelerator pedal for a v-6 car that I sold on eGay for $60....so I made $20.

Thanks for the ideas, I'm thinking used is the way to go. Looks like I'll hit the junkyard this weekend and if I don't find anything I'll keep my eyes posted online and hope something pops up.

I have few sets of front & rear LS1 calipers. I'm not using them. Shoot me a PM if you are interested.

Wait for pick n pull to do a half off sale then find any 98+ Camaro or firebird doesn't have to have a v8 they are all the same. I got my setup minus the front rotors for around 150 plus a lot of sweat down here in Dallas on labor day :)
