I am curious how much luck, good or bad, you may have had selling on ebay. I just had 4 EBAY auctions end this past week on Tuesday. I had only sold a single item prior to these listings.

1 item was paid for and shipped in 1 day.

2 item I have not heard from the buyer on making payment.

4th item buyer asked to be released from the auction.

Just bad luck or is it always like this when selling?

That's about right, although I wouldn't think 1/4 of the winning bidders ask to get out of the auction on average. The company I work for is called Your Auction Stop. We list and sell items on e-Bay for companies and individuals. We sell mostly overstock/liquidation items but that's about what we have seen. Sometimes people need to be sent a reminder to pay-they forget what all they have bid on and won!

I've sold about 400 used car parts and about only 2 have flaked out. They were the higher dollar type of parts and thats maybe why. I would tend to think its easier to flake out on a cheap part and easier for deadbeats to bid on lower priced parts. I always put a header on my auctions stating that I expect payment within 3days by Paypal or 10 days by money order. I also state no bidders with less than 10 feedbacks or any negatives within 45 days. Don't know if it helps but I never worry about not getting paid.

I sell mostly airplane stuff on ebay and occasionally car parts and other odds and ends. I have not had too many problems with buyers or sellers. Low feedback can bite you both ways. I have found that the higher your feedback is, you will get more bids on more things and your stuff will sell for a little more than someone with lower numbers. Ebay is ALL about credibility. I have sold over 500 items in the last couple of years. Hope that helps.

I have sold several things and bought our Mustang and Camaro from e-bay. So far no bad experiences at all. :) Saved and earned thousands. I will probably buy my next car from e-bay and sell my next car on e-bay.

Most of the time you will be ok, other times you get people who dont want to pay. Leave them negative feedback and you will get it back as well. I have well over 1800 unique feedbacks on ebay and well over 3000 total feedbacks. I have been selling leather on their for four years now. It a crap shoot but the numbers all come out on the plus side at the end of the year so it is worth the aggravation you sometimes go through. I can tell you that in the car and parts department for some reason you tend to get screwed more than in other departments. I think its because people get itchy trigger fingers and then realize their mistake. But all in all it is a good thing. I have sold 5 motorcycles and 12 classic cars in the last four years as well. I think this is largely due to the excellent feedback I have and number of feedbacks as well. EBAY IS ALL ABOUT REPUTATION!!!

Sold three items on Ebay last week and all three paid and all items are waiting to be delivered. Sold a 69 camaro 302 crank and got $550 then the guy wanted my GM replacement block that needed sleved and oil pan for an additional $150. Sweet deal for me.

I did run into trouble with an intake that sold for $260 and the guy didn't pay up, relisted and only got $201 out of it...
