What do you guys think? If I could pick up a 3.7l with a manual cheap I'm considering it. I own a CNC shop and the brackets would be cake. 305hp + 30mpg sounds awesome to me for a daily driver.

For the effort I would go the V8 route. You can get close to the same MPG, have better sound, and if you ever choose to sell more likely to get you money back out of it. I picked up a 3v 4.6 engine and 5spd tranny combo with 40k miles for $1800, so the deals are out there.

Why not? I have the engine in my truck. It's a high winding mill and with a manual behind it would be a lot of fun. I've heard of a few folks considering the Ecoboost swap as well. Go for it.

I was thinking if I could get a hold of a wrecked manual v6 mustang it would be a good idea.

I like the idea. I've been thinking about getting that setup for a Fairlane project or a 62 Falcon I have my eye on.
